Do you ever feel like you’re "working too hard" to get the sound you want? Whether you are a seasoned choral veteran, an aspiring soloist, or preparing for the next round of Tabernacle Choir auditions, this interactive two-hour session is designed to help you find more beauty and ease in every note.
What to Expect: This isn't a lecture, it’s a discovery. In a lighthearted and supportive environment, we will peel back the curtain on the "how" of singing:
The "Magic" of Resonance: Learn how to use your body’s natural amplifiers to increase your volume and richness without the strain.
Healthy Foundations: We will explore the physiology of the voice in a way that feels therapeutic and restorative, leaving your voice feeling better when you leave than when you arrived.
Audition-Ready Insight: We’ll touch on the specific vocal qualities sought after by elite ensembles, focusing on blend, pure vowels, and effortless projection.
Interactive Discovery: Through group exercises and demonstrations, you’ll experience the physical shifts that lead to a more professional, resonant sound.
The Heart of the Event:
This workshop is a full-circle moment for me. As an alumna of the Utah Children's Choir, I am hosting this event as a fundraiser to support the next generation of young voices. Come sharpen your skills, find your most beautiful sound, and give back to the community that fosters the music we all love.
Meet our guest instructor, Rachel morris:
Rachel Morris is a vibrant soprano and award-winning vocal educator recognized for her effortless technique and commitment to healthy vocal production. She holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Utah and a Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music and has been honored for both her excellence in performance and her contributions to teaching young artists.
As a highly sought-after soloist, Rachel has performed on Utah’s most prominent stages, including appearing with the Utah Symphony and Utah Opera, Cathedral of the Madeleine, Oratorio Society of Utah, Utah Metropolitan Ballet, and Salt Lake Choral Artists, and as a featured artist for the Temple Square Concert Series.
With nearly two decades of teaching experience, Rachel specializes in the physiology of the voice, healthy singing, and enhancing resonance. She recently served as a Guest Masterclass Instructor at BYU-Hawaii and Guest Lecturer for the Wasatch High School Chamber Singers. She also directs annual Summer Voice Intensives, providing rigorous technical training for teen singers. Her students have won national competitions, sung in most of the major choirs in Utah (including the Tabernacle Choir), and performed all over the world.
Rachel is a proud alumna of the Utah Children’s Choir and delighted to return to her roots to host this workshop as a fundraiser to support the organization that first nurtured her voice.
